Off-leash in most of the parklands outside Grand Drive, and on sporting fields when not in use. On-leash near playgrounds, the horse track, equestrian grounds and the Learner's Cycleway. The Bird Sanctuary and York Road Bushland are off-limits to dogs entirely.
The vibe
One of Sydney's largest off-leash areas by area: almost half of Centennial Parklands, outside the Grand Drive circuit, is off-leash around the clock. Sporting fields are also off-leash when not in use.
Good to know before you go
Restricted breeds (e.g. pit bull terriers) must be leashed and muzzled throughout, per Parklands rules.
Dog-access information last checked 19 August 2026 against Centennial Parklands Trust. Check the current official rules. Rules can change — always check before visiting.
